MimeKit is an Open Source library for creating and parsing MIME messages on desktop and mobile platforms. It also supports parsing of Unix mbox files.

  MimeKit.Core provides the core MIME creation and parsing functionality without any dependency on BouncyCastle. For S/MIME, PGP/MIME, DKIM, ARC and DMARC support, add the MimeKit.Cryptography package (or the MimeKit meta-package).

MimeKit 5.0 is a major release containing a number of breaking changes. See https://github.com/jstedfast/MimeKit/blob/master/ReleaseNotes.md for the complete list of changes and migration notes.

  • Split MimeKit into two packages: MimeKit.Core (MIME creation and parsing) and MimeKit.Cryptography (S/MIME, PGP/MIME, DKIM, ARC and DMARC). The MimeKit package is now a meta-package that references both. MimeKitLite has been retired; use MimeKit.Core instead.
  • Promoted the new MIME parser: ExperimentalMimeParser has been renamed to MimeParser, and the previous implementation has been renamed to LegacyMimeParser. MimeParser no longer derives from MimeReader.
  • MimeParser now round-trips messages byte-for-byte, including truncated messages.
  • Added an API for reporting MIME compliance violations found while parsing (MimeReader.ComplianceLogger and MimeComplianceOptions).
  • Redesigned the TNEF API and added TnefWriter and TnefPropertyWriter. The TNEF reader has also been hardened against malformed input.
  • Added the RtfToText and RtfToHtml text converters.
  • Added ParserOptions.MaxHeaderLength, HtmlTokenizer.MaxElementDepth and HtmlToHtml.MaxElementDepth resource limits.
  • Brought HtmlTokenizer into conformance with the html5lib tokenizer test suite.
  • Removed previously obsoleted APIs.
  • Numerous performance improvements, including SIMD-accelerated uuencode/uudecode, faster base64, quoted-printable and MimeReader content scanning, and fewer allocations in HtmlTokenizer and HtmlToHtml.
